Liverpool listicles for EasyJet Traveller

I was approached and commissioned to write a series of seven short listicles spotlighting Liverpool as an up-and-coming European city for EasyJet’s award-winning in-flight magazine.

At the time (2018), the publication had 7+ million monthly readers. That’s 14+ million eyeballs. And 70+ million fingers (yes, thumbs count here). The prospect of so many Sour Cream Pringles-dusted digits leafing through the pages of EasyJet Traveller and landing on my copywriting is still as cool to me now as it was then.

The years I spent passing the time on flights from Liverpool, reading dog-eared mags from the seat pocket in front of me, bookmarked with a sick bag at the page with Lancôme Juicy Tubes or miniature Baileys on. It all made for a very full-circle feeling when I was enlisted to ideate, pitch and write feature content celebrating the corners of the wonderful city I call home.

The brief was simple: “Around 120 words” and “the weirder, more specific or more niche the better” for The Knowledge destination guides segment of the magazine.

The outcome: Just that. Seven listicles, no more than 120 words each and as weird, specific and niche as I believed appropriate for the average EasyJet Traveller reader.
